Well Hello! You might have noticed that it looks a little different here on the blog, and I thought it was about time for a new face and a new brand. I’ve updated with my latest work and I’m going to try to be better about blogging! The old blog is still accessible, but I will be doing all my updates here. It was time for a fresh start! The old blog: juliesocherblog.com
Some things have changed a bit since the last time I blogged. Early this year, my partner in crime, my right paw chick, Roxy, passed away in January. It was fast and so sudden, but we were so very lucky to have gotten to spend a couple more hours with her. I’ve actually started a blog for her way long ago as a way to showcase all the photos I take of her, and was bad about updating it, but I’ve resurrected her blog and even though she’s gone, I won’t stop updating it with her photos. It’s my little way of keeping her alive. You can read all about how we lost her and you’ll actually meet the newest member of our family…but I’ll also introduce her here also..soon! thedailyzipper.wordpress.com
Roxy’s trip to the Outer Banks in 2012
In our search for a new pup, my eyes were opened to the world of Rescue. I really wanted to volunteer some way or another but never applied in fear of just never having the time. Well long story short, I got in contact with another volunteer from the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue and agreed to come out to an event to take photos of the event and dogs and from that event on, I officially became a volunteer! I try to make as many events to photograph the event as well as take photos of the fosters in hope that better photos will help in a speedy adoption.
I won’t lie, I turn to mush when I’m around German Shepherds. I will always have a very soft spot in my heart for them and hope to have another one day. So volunteering with the Shepherd Rescue has really helped me keep Roxy’s memory alive as well as gives me that warm fuzzy that my efforts are in support of helping save lives to my favorite breed.
I’d like to share the images of the available dogs from VGSR here on my blog and I encourage you to please share this blog post in hopes that someone interested in adopting or fostering these great dogs will give these guys a warm home to be fostered in or their fur-ever home!
To apply to adopt please go here and fill out the adoption application: http://www.vgsr.org/forms/VGSR_Adoption_Application.pdf
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting these pups at the Gainesville, VA event this past weekend. Please visit they’re Facebook page too! https://www.facebook.com/VAGSR
